About the Artist
Audrey Rodriguez is a fine artist based in Brooklyn, New York, and was born and raised in South Texas. At the University of Texas at Brownsville, the thematic focus of her undergraduate art was the depiction of the drug cartel violence raging along the shared border of Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico.
She found her artistic voice after directly witnessing the inhumane treatment of Central American and Mexican immigrants at the hands of U.S. Border Patrol officers. She felt limited by her technique, so in order to fully realize her ideas and concepts she sought academic training at a traditional atelier.
She studied under Jacob Collins at the Grand Central Atelier, where she learned time-honored techniques in painting and drawing. Audrey graduated from the Grand Central Atelier in 2016.
